Voice Actress for Tifa Lockhart in FF7 Remake Received Death Threats

With many gamers excited for Final Fantasy VII Remake, it appears that some people have a more sinister plan in mind. The voice actress for Tifa Lockhart, Ayumi Ito, has received multiple death threats this past summer.

The death threats are said to be from an unnamed man and woman. However, both individuals are said to have no relations with each other. In June 2019, the woman sent an email to Ayumi Ito’s agency which mentions the following:

I hate her so much I want to kill her. I’m going to stab her in the back of her hand with all my might.

The death threat allegedly stemmed from the voice actress’ attendance at a preview showing of a drama show leading to her absence at the event. Soon after, the man sent a message to an undisclosed game company threatening Ayumi Ito’s life if her part was not recast.

While nothing has been confirmed, another Japanese site called Sanspo says that the company helps with the production and sales of Final Fantasy. Ayumi Ito has filed charges against both individuals. As of now, there is no clear explanation as to why the culprits are targeting the voice actress.

Ayumi Ito is known for voicing Tifa Lockhart several times, including Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts II, and the Final Fantasy Dissidia series.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 on 3rd March 2020.

Pokdepinion: I think being unhappy or displeased about a voice actor / actress is fine. Death threats however is a big no-no regardless of who it’s being sent to.
