With YouTube’s API update for the app to API v3, comes certain sacrifices. Amongst them are the discontinuation of support for certain older devices. Amongst the devices are older Apple devices which do not support iOS7 and above, Apple TV 2nd generation and older, devices running Google TV version 2 and older, and certain smart TVs. However don’t fret as owners of said devices can still use YouTube through the website or mobile website respectively. The fate of Windows Phone users are unknown as there was no mention regarding the OS. The older API will be shut down starting 20th April 2015.

Do you frequently use the YouTube app? Personally I don’t because data is just too costly for me. Not that I own any devices in the list either. What do you think? Do you prefer the app or have you used the website all the while?
