Xiaomi AirDots Youth Edition costs less than RM120 — the most affordable true wireless earphones ever?
Xiaomi’s earphones are really pretty amazing. They sound great, and are usually very affordable. Their latest AirDots Youth Edition true wireless earphones got the affordable part right, but we won’t pass judgement on that yet. But at just 199 yuan (~RM119.63), the Xiaomi AirDots should quite surely surpass your expectations with its 7.2mm drivers.
Unlike most affordable Bluetooth earphones, you rely on taps to control the Xiaomi AirDots, instead of physical buttons. Short taps, long taps, you get the drill. You can even call up Xiaomi’s AI assistant, Xiao Ai, with touches on the earphones itself.
The Xiaomi AirDots utilize Bluetooth 5.0 instead of the more common Bluetooth 4.2. This allows the Xiaomi AirDots to deliver better battery life, be less prone to interference and also offer faster pairing as well as quicker reconnection in case the connection is lost.
Speaking of battery life, the Xiaomi AirDots can last 4 hours per charge when used as a pair. When only one side is used, the battery life increases to 5 hours. Meanwhile the the case is good for three charges, which means you get a total of 12 hours each time you charge up the case.
The sole downside is that it is currently only available in China. Will you pick up a pair of the Xiaomi AirDots Youth Edition if it arrives here in Malaysia?
Pokdepinion: Finally wireless earphones are cheap. Considering that most phones nowadays don’t have 3.5mm jacks, these make a good start for those who just upgraded to a new smartphone.
