Corsair just announced their new Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-ALPHA mid-tower gaming case at CES 2016. The SPEC-ALPHA not only has a unique edgy design, but it also stands out in terms of features.

The SPEC-ALPHA does away with the front 5.25″ drive bays to accommodate two 120mm fans in front, for direct airflow to the CPU and GPU where cool air is needed most, what Corsair dubs Direct Airflow Path layout. A single fan on the rear of the chassis acts as the exhaust.

The SPEC-ALPHA is available in two color options, black-silver and red-white. Native USB 3.0 support is a given with current cases, and it also sports a fan controller switch, neatly hidden in the I/O panel up front. Tool-free side panel removal and drive installation, built-in cable management cutouts and tie downs means less hassle and more tidiness when building your gaming PC.

A large side panel comes standard to show off your gaming rig’s innards. The Carbide SPEC-ALPHA’s availability in Malaysia is still yet unknown, but it should cost somewhere around $79.99 (RM350), with a two-year warranty.

Pokdepinion: The Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA looks like a decent case, except for the fact that it lacks top vents. From my experience, a top vent is vital to exhaust hot air, as hot air naturally rises. The effectiveness of the Direct Airflow Path layout remains to be seen though and may very well alleviate this issue.
