12th Gen Intel Core Alder Lake is 15% faster in Windows 11 benchmark leaks

One of the main improvements that Windows 11 will bring to the table is the ability to better take advantage of hybrid architectures. Earlier previews have shown that Lakefield was able to deliver better performance in Windows 11 than it did in Windows 10, but the highlight will definitely be on the upcoming 12th Gen Intel Core series. And it seems that Alder Lake does enjoy a nice boost from Windows 11.

In SiSoftware SANDRA, the Core i9-12900K manages up to 14.8% better performance in the Single Float SIMD section of the test. Overall the average improvement is nearly 9%, which is pretty interesting from just an OS upgrade. The break down of the scores are as follows:

Windows 11 is already out now, and Alder Lake will be launching soon enough to take advantage of these performance improvements. The report at HotHardware goes on to compare the Core i9-12900K against the Ryzen 9 5900X though, and it seems that AMD still has the upper hand in SANDRA, despite the fact that Windows 11 isn’t exactly working in its favor.

AMD’s Zen 3 processor still enjoys a lead ranging from 2.1% to 19.7%, which means that those who really need the performance in similar workloads would probably be better off with AMD. But then again, there are leaked benchmarks showing the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X being trounced by the Core i9-12900K, so it really depends on what you are planning to do with your system.
