The AMD Ryzen 3000 series now gets two new members from the Ryzen 3 series. While the Second Generation AMD Ryzen 3 processors only came with four cores and four threads, the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X come with simultaneous multithreading (SMT) enabled, for better multitasking capability.

As you might expect, these are relatively affordable processors that are meant to deliver a strong punch in the entry-level segment. Here are the specifications and pricing of the new AMD Ryzen 3 3000 series processors:

AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X Specs

AMD Ryzen 3 3100 AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
Base Clocks / Boost Clocks 3.6 / 3.9 GHz 3.8 / 4.3 GHz
Cores / Threads 4C / 8T 4C / 8T
Cache 18MB 18MB
TDP 65W 65W
Price RM449 RM549

To go along with these affordable processors, AMD has also announced the AMD B550 chipset, which should allow gamers to enjoy the benefits of PCIe 4.0 without having to shell out for a premium AMD X570 motherboard. AMD lays claim to the AMD B550 being the world’s only mainstream modern chipset with compatibility for PCIe 4.0, which offers twice the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0.

However the new AMD B550 boards will only be available starting 16th June, while the new AMD Ryzen 3 processors will be offered starting 21st May.

Pokdepinion: I still barely see the relevance of PCIe 4.0 nearly a full year down the road…
