Intel forced to stop shipments to China’s largest server maker Inspur
US government restrictions has forced Intel to stop shipments to Inspur, the world’s 3rd largest server maker. This comes after the US government added Inspur to the list of 20 companies that the Pentagon claims to be under the control of the Chinese military (PLA). This allows the US to block the listed companies from obtaining “critical US technologies”.
Intel is reportedly just pausing shipments and will be resuming shipments in less than two weeks for some items, while other items will see shipments resume in a matter of days. The US government has previously allowed for US companies to apply for licenses to resume trade with companies like HUAWEI, so Intel probably has a plan to obtain a license to continue business with Inspur as well.
The list of Chinese companies that the US government has banned from trading with US companies include Hikvision and HUAWEI, with the latter already beleaguered by US sanctions since last year.
