Dell XPS Desktop Gets Supercharged With 10th Gen Intel Core and NVIDIA Graphics

The folks over at Dell have unveiled a slew of new products, and also confirmed that a number of those products will be arriving in Malaysia. This includes the Dell XPS Desktop and three S-series monitors for consumers to enjoy.

The New Dell XPS Desktop

Taking some design cues from their signature XPS laptops with its modern and minimalist style, the new Dell XPS Desktop had a complete redesign and is aimed to be the most powerful XPS system ever built. It is powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core CPU, up to an Intel Core i9,  and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER for graphics. The idea here is to have enough power for creative workflows, gaming, and VR. As for the base specs, it will be the following:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10400
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER
  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • 2-years Premium Support and Onsite Service

While it packs a lot of firepower, the size has reduced noticeably over the previous generation, going from 24 litres to 19 litres in volume. Despite that, it still has plenty of expandability and is also easy to maintain / upgrade with its tool-less chassis. Armed with a 500W power supply, you have 4 storage bays 3 expansion slots for future upgrades.

As for cooling, Dell mentioned that their engineers designed the Dell XPS Desktop with an emphasis on airflow and maximizing performance from its open architecture. The thermals are said to be enhanced with voltage regulator cooling, strategic venting position, and high RPM fans for adequate airflow.

With this being a Dell PC, you have access to Dell Mobile Connect, a software that seamlessly integrates your smartphone with the PC. Now supporting both Android and iOS, users can make calls, send texts, fully mirror your phone screen to use your apps, get notifications, and and share files using your Dell PC. Best of all, it’s free.

Dell XPS 8000 Series (Model 8940) desktop computer, codename Diavel. Additional products are Dell S2719DG monitor, and Dell KM717 wireless keyboard and mouse.

The Dell XPS Desktop will be available in Malaysia sometime in end July 2020. It will be available in the Night Sky colour theme. The retail price will start from RM3,499.

New Dell S-series Monitors

Dell is also introducing the new S-series monitors, which can be used for gaming, streaming your favourite shows, or for a home office setup. With display size ranging from 27-inch to 32-inch, they have integrated speakers, 99% sRGB colour coverage, and AMD FreeSync support.

The Dell 32 Curved 4K Monitor (S3221QS) has a dual 5W speaker setup built in, and it’s tuned for enhanced audio visual experience. For those who are particular about colour and viewing angles, you can consider the Dell 27 4K Monitor (S2721QS), or the Dell 27 QHD Monitor (S2721DS) as both of these use IPS panels.

To sweeten the deal, the Dell Premium Panel Exchange program will be made available for the first time for these S-series monitors as part of the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Essentially, if there is even a single bright pixel on your monitor, you can get the monitor exchanged for free. It will be applicable during the limited hardware warranty period, and will not apply to Malaysia, at least not yet. The program might be added to Malaysia, but we will report more on that as soon as information becomes available.

All three Dell S-series monitors will be available in Malaysia sometime in late August 2020. Retail price has yet to be announced so we will update this as soon as information becomes available.

Pokdepinion: I’m personally curious as to how those monitors would perform for gaming. Also, part of me feels like the XPS Desktop was inspired by sleeper builds online given how it looks and the parts it is packing inside. Would be interesting to take it for a spin.
