Samsung Launches Odyssey OLED G8 Gaming Monitor, Begins Preorder

Samsung has opened preorders for its latest Odyssey gaming monitor lineup – the 34″ Odyssey OLED G8.

The OLED G8 marks Samsung’s first ever gaming monitor to come with latest Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) panel which is capable of delivering higher brightness compared to traditional OLED panels. As with OLED panels, it enjoys the advantages such as 175Hz refresh rate and extremely low 0.1ms response time. The monitor size scales 34 inches with 21:9, ultrawide QHD resolution (3440 x 1440), covers 100% DCI-P3 with 1800R display curvature. It is also certified by VESA with DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification; as well as AMD FreeSync Premium support.

Samsung has added a bit of flair to the OLED G8 in the form of Samsung Smart Hub – which functions similarly to their Smart Monitor lineup, providing content streaming from services such as Netflix, YouTube and other OTT providers without the need of a PC or mobile device. Samsung TV Plus provides free live content – no download or signups required, the company stated. Another feature carried from the Smart Monitor lineup is the integrated IoT hub – which can be paired with SmartThings to monitor all the connected devices and adjust settings from the app as needed.

The stand provides height and tilt adjustments; attaching to the center of the monitor with a big RGB ring surrounding the mounting position. I/O options are, coincidentally, similar to that of Smart Monitor M8 – with Micro HDMI (supports HDMI 2.1), Mini DisplayPort 1.4 and a pair of USB-C ports (upstream and downstream). A pair of stereo 5W speakers are also featured in this model.

Available in Silver color, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (model code LS34BG850SEXXS) is set to be priced at RM7,599 – those who pre-order starting 10 Nov to 20 Nov 2022 will receive a Soundbar HW-B450 (worth RM799) as a bonus. You can pre-order and purchase the monitor here: Lazada | Shopee
