ASUS has just dropped their latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards, including the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090. The full lineup is present, ranging from their premium ROG Strix family, the robust TUF Gaming series and the more affordable ASUS Dual series as well.

ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30-series: hope you like RGB

As part of their most premium lineup, the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30-series sports all the best hardware ASUS can get their hands on. That includes the Super Alloy Power II chokes and high-end power stages, all of which are mounted to the PCB with ASUS’ exclusive Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing process which avoids any human-induced errors.

But while what’s under the hood is not too different from previous generations, aside from the key components like the GPU and VRAM, ASUS appears to have entirely redesigned the cooler. Gone is the sleek dark grey shroud in favor of a newer, more aggressive shroud that now touts more RGB elements on the side.

The fans themselves are the Axial-tech fans that debuted on the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, but with a slight twist. The center fans sports 13 blades and a full-height barrier ring to further increase static pressure, while the two fans flanking it pack 11 blades each and half-height barrier rings, to deliver better airflow through the heatsink. The center fan also rotates in the opposite direction, to avoid turbulence between the trio of fans.

The heatsink itself is also enlarged, with the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090 now filling up 2.9-slots to better cool the Ampere GPU under it. The backplate has been redesigned, with a wide vent to allow hot air to exhaust directly through the backplate for faster heat dissipation. Last but not least, the ROG Strix reinforced metal frame prevents the GPUs from sagging under the weight of the massive cooling systems that these cards offer.

TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 30-series: bigger and better

While the TUF Gaming series of graphics cards for the previous generations were relatively tame in terms of their design, ASUS went back to the drawing board for the NVIDIA Ampere generation. What we get are a set of impressive looking GPUs with triple Axial-tech fans, complete with the center fan spinning in a reversed direction to avoid turbulence.

The backplate also sports a vent to allow hot air to flow directly though for better cooling of the hardware. As you might expect from the TUF Gaming brand, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 30-series cards were built to exacting specifications to allow them to endure the toughest of usage scenarios, and are tested in 144-hour validation trials to ensure that they can live up to their name.

ASUS Dual: more compact

ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070

For the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 30-series cards, ASUS used two Axial-tech fans to deliver great performance in a smaller form factor. A simpler design allows them to serve as the perfect choice for a well-balanced build.
