NVIDIA introduces GeForce GTX 1050 — all the goodness of Pascal for $109

If the GeForce GTX 1060 is still a bit too pricey for your tastes, well NVIDIA has got a treat for you. The GeForce GTX 1050 and its faster brother, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti have just been confirmed by NVIDIA, with pricing starting from $109.

With the rising popularity of eSports titles (as well as prize money from the tournaments), it would be foolish for hardware manufacturers not to target the rapidly growing demographic. Well, that’s where these baby Pascal cards come in — offering the efficiency of Pascal without the backbreaking price.

The GeForce GTX 1050 offers a 3X leap in performance over the Kepler-based GTX 650, and more than 50% faster than the very first Maxwell card which brought about a leap in performance-per-watt, the GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

Thanks to the leap to TSMC’s 16nm FinFET manufacturing process, the performance gain is not followed by an equally large increase in power consumption. Both the GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti come with a 75W TDP, allowing for easier upgrading of older systems with the new Pascal-based card.

The GeForce GTX 1050 will pack 640 CUDA cores and 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM, while the Ti variant will feature 768 of them, with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Both cards will be available starting from 25th October, with pricing starting from $109 for the GeForce GTX 1050, and $30 more for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.
