The Lenovo ThinkStation P620 packs a lot of firepower under its hood, especially since it’s powered by the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro. It also supports up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes and 8-channel memory (up to 1TB DDR4). On the storage side, you can get up to 4TB M.2 PCIe SSD and 16TB 7200RPM HDD, with options for RAID0/1 for M.2 and RAID0/1/5/10 for SATA.

As this is a workstation, you can’t just cram in any graphics card. This one can support up to two NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 or four Quadro RTX 4000 graphics cards. Moreover, it can power 16 displays with up to a 96GB frame buffer. All of this will be powered by a 1000W power supply. According to Lenovo, the 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro can outperform Intel-based dual CPU workstations by up to 20%.

With all of that power, the Lenovo ThinkStation P620 is still rather compact with a 33-liter tower chassis. It doesn’t rely on liquid cooling as they, along with AMD, created a new channel cooling system in the body along with a custom heatsink for the 64-core CPU.

As for ports, you have access to the following:

Front I/O

  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2  Type-C
  • 1 x 3.5mm combo audio jack
  • 1 x 15-in-1 media card reader
  • 1 x Slim optical drive

Rear I/O

  • 4 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
  • 2 x USB 2.0
  • 1 x PS/2 port
  • 1 x RJ45 LAN (Gigabit Ethernet)
  • 1 x Audio Line-in
  • 1 x Audio Line-out
  • 1 x Microphone-in

Interestingly, it will not have Thunderbolt support at launch but it will be added sometime in early 2021.

The Lenovo ThinkStation P620 is positioned in between the P520 and P720 workstations. It will be shipping out sometime in September 2020. Prices have yet to be revealed, and will be dependent on the chosen configuration of the workstation.
