ASUS Takes On Cable Management With DIY-APE Revolution Project

ASUS

For as long as custom PCs existed, cable management is pretty much the most tedious part of PC building; it also creates a bunch of cables routing around and across the case creating undesirable visuals. GIGABYTE first tested the waters with the Project Stealth PC – a set of custom-built motherboard, components and case that aims to hide all cables wherever possible. Now, ASUS is ready to take on this challenge, with the DIY-APE Revolution project.

Bilibili channel “Ancient Era Installer” has shown two such designs, with all cable-based connectors all placed behind the motherboard, including USB headers, fan/pump headers, ATX 24-pin, EPS (CPU) 8-pin, SATA and even front-panel headers. The video claims that various Intel and AMD chipsets will be featured, including Intel B660, B760, H610 as well as AMD B650. ASUS intends to create a ecosystem for this type of motherboards – and various companies such as SAMA, Lian Li, Cooler Master, Cougar, Phanteks and Jonsbo are expected to join this effort.

This remains an experimental endeavor for ASUS – hence these motherboards will have very limited availability for the time being.
