Transcend SuperMLC CFast 2.0 CFX720 memory cards announced
Transcend has announced their latest industrial-grade SuperMLC CFast 2.0 CFX720 memory cards, which promise to offer performance and endurance comparable to SLC NAND flash offerings, but without the prohibitively high costs of SLC NAND flash cards.
Transcend’s exclusive SuperMLC technology combines the benefits of SLC and MLC NAND flash by reprogramming the two bits per cell of MLC into one bit per cell, greatly enhancing performance. The new CFX720 memory cards are compliant with the CFast 2.0 specifications, based on the SATA III 6Gb/s interface, for transfer speeds of up to 500MB/s, double what MLC flash chips are capable of.
The Transcend CFX720 memory cards are fault-tolerant and offer exceptional endurance, promising up to 30 000 P/E cycles, 10x more than MLC NAND flash. ECC and S.M.A.R.T. functions ensure reliable data transfer and also monitoring capabilities for maximum dependability.
The Transcend SuperMLC CFast 2.0 CFX720 memory cards are available in 8GB to 256GB capacities, and are backed by Transcend’s 2-year Limited Warranty.
Pokdepinion: It is interesting to see this SuperMLC technology making a debut in CF cards. While few consumers will ever find a need for this kind of performance and durability, it is definitely required in industrial grade applications.
