WD brings their latest portable SSDs to Malaysia — proven to work even after 2m drops!
Western Digital’s latest MyPassport Wireless SSD and SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD improves on the reliability of external drives by replacing the spinning platter drives that are prone to damage by shock or vibration with solid state NAND flash.
WD MyPassport Wireless SSD
The Western Digital MyPassport Wireless SSD is an all-in-one portable drive that can directly backup your files from your SD cards without any additional hardware. RAW images transferred to the drive can be previewed on your smartphone directly too. Thanks to the WiFi capabilities of the MyPassport Wireless SSD, wireless tethering with popular WiFi-enabled cameras is also possible.
It can also wirelessly stream 4K videos to your device for up to 10 hours, thanks to a capacious built-in battery that can double as a powerbank to juice up your other devices in a pinch. When used as a typical external drive over USB 3.0, you can enjoy up to 390MB/s read speeds from the Western Digital MyPassport Wireless SSD. With the solid state NAND within, it is designed to withstand drops from as high as 1 meter, even when the drive is in operation. Priced from RM1099 for the 250GB variant, the WD MyPassport Wireless SSD will be available starting July at all leading IT retail outlets and online stores.
SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD
The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is even more durable, with IP55-rated water and dust resistance and solid yet light structure that can endure drops from up to 2 m high. Its compact design allows you to bring up to 2TB of storage everywhere you go. Speeds of up to 550MB/s are possible despite the compact dimensions of the drive. The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is covered by a limited 3-year warranty, ranging from RM529 for the 250GB variant up to RM3299 for the 2TB. It is available now at all leading IT retail outlets and online stores.
G-Technology Professional Storage Solutions
Also showcased were enterprise-grade storage solutions from G-Technology that offer transfer speeds of up to 2800MB/s over Thunderbolt 3. In this range, the prices aren’t consumer-friendly, but given the extreme reliability and endurance these drives are rated for, they will definitely be appreciated by content creators who relies on fast, reliable storage to put food on the table.
Pokdepinion: We are definitely interested to drop test these drives!
