McDonald’s Partners With foodpanda To Expand McDelivery Network
Got the midnight cravings? McDonald’s got your back
Fast food giant McDonald’s announced today that they have partnered with food delivery giant foodpanda to increase their McDelivery service’s network. This effectively makes McDonald’s foodpanda’s largest partner. Furthermore, this strategic partnership with foodpanda will extend the reach of McDelivery to customers nationwide even farther, penetrating new areas through foodpanda’s vast delivery network.
Melati Abdul Hai, McDonald’s Malaysia vice president and chief marketing officer said the expansion of the McDelivery service was a result of the increase in demand, largely owing to a shift in consumer behaviour and lifestyle as well as a change in the ever-evolving business landscape.
She further added that they are in the midst of expanding their McDelivery service reach nationwide with a targeted 310 delivery points by the end of the year. This number will increase to 1000 delivery points nationwide by 2021 and at least 90 percent of McDonald’s restaurants will be equipped with McDelivery services by 2025.
McDonald’s also took the time to introduce their new app, which is available to download on both Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store. They explained that users can use the app to not just order their food as there are other features built-in within the app. These other features include daily exclusive offers, booking function for birthday parties, restaurant locator, job application function, latest news and information from McDonald’s, as well as a customer feedback function.
The new app will also feature personalised offers and promotions based on the customers previous purchases.
Due to the collaboration with foodpanda, the McDelivery service is now available 24 hours a day. So if you’re suddenly craving a Big Mac at 3 o clock in the morning, don’t fret, just order it online through the McDonald’s app.
Pokdepinion: I do hope that the McDelivery service improves with this collaboration. Their service has been frustrating ever since they’ve switched purely over to ordering online.
