5G trials to commence next month in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya
We are probably getting 5G earlier than we thought. A tweet from Bernama News Channel revealed that the first phase of 5G trials will begin next month in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya. The trials will reportedly run for six months in these two areas.

There aren’t any more details about which telcos are involved or what tests will be done during these trials. However it is very possible that Maxis and HUAWEI will be the forerunners behind this 5G trial, with them signing a MoU at MWC 2019 recently.
With that said, these trials should fast forward the adoption of 5G here in Malaysia. With mobile telcos now very competitive versus fixed-line ISPs, once 5G is introduced we may even see them compete in terms of speed.
Definitely looking forward to see more updates about 5G here in Malaysia!
Pokdepinion: I know many of you will probably be complaining about the lack of coverage from your telco in the comments. But… 5G!
