Celcom and Ericsson has enabled the first 5G hologram call in the country at 5G Malaysia Showcase, which is organized by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in Putrajaya. Our very own Prime Minister, TAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad made the very first call.

He arrived at the event with YB Gobind Singh, Minister of Communications and Multimedia, in a 5G powered autonomous car, a use case enabled by both Celcom and Ericsson. The 5G demonstration and use cases combine gigabit speeds and ultra-low latency capabilities of 5G to showcase key benefits of the technology, such as the remote operation of machines enabled through virtual reality.

The hologram call is developed by Ericssona nd Celcom, in partnership with ARHT Media. It showcases how 5G enables interactive holographic communication through a high-speed, low latency 5G radio link between to spatially separated areas.

Aside from the hologram call and autonomous car, they’re also showcasing a 5G virtual workspace at their booth. With it, it enables people to collaborate and communicate in one room from anywhere in the world, as though they are in the same physical location. This is all possible thanks to the low latency that 5G network provides.

Previously, Celcom announced of a partnership with HUAWEI in creating a 5G Innovation Hub in their headquarters.

Pokdepinion: These are definitely exciting demos of what the future will bring, thanks to 5G.
