Gobind / MCMC Suggests Meeting with TM Next Week to Discuss on Streamyx Issues and More

Minister of Communications and Multimedia Gobind Singh Deo has gone on Twitter to thank TM (Telekom Malaysia) for their response with regards to the broadband landscape in Malaysia and commitment in improving the situation.

He has since suggested to have a meeting with TM for a discussion to further improve services. It was also suggested that the discussion should take place sometime next week, and that the government is prepared to assist wherever possible.

Earlier, TM gave an official statement as a reply to MCMC, where they explain about the limits of copper networks. They also mentioned that they’re always open to discussions with the government in order to solve the issues that’s being faced by the Streamyx users who are stuck on copper network.

For those of you who aren’t aware,  the maximum speed limit on copper network is 8 Mbps. TM is aware that they need a solution that will solve the problem for long-term but such a solution will require time and money in order to be implemented. As such, TM is looking to speed up the discussion so the Streamyx issues will be solved faster.

One of the major concerns for Streamyx / Unifi Broadband users is the high price that they’re being charged despite the small speeds. From the discussion perhaps will get to see some price cuts that have been long overdue for users.

Pokdepinion: I hope the price cuts are happening sooner rather than later because it feels like we’ve been waiting for ages for this to happen.
