It’s undeniable that telcos have been an essential part of our life since the pandemic began. Well the folks at Opensignal has shed some light on how and why Malaysians are changing their mobile operators since then.

The company has said that users who changed their mobile operator on average had a worse mobile experience before they switched compared to the typical experience on their original network.

Seeing the chart, it seems that Celcom and Maxis have seen the biggest rise out of all the telcos in the country. On the other hand, U Mobile seems to be losing a significant number of users.

While telcos in the country have offered free/cheaper data packages, Opensignal claims that the quality experience (of each telco) is the differentiating factor for consumers.

Pokdepinion: Seeing the chart, I’m not surprised that U Mobile is losing their users. I’ve heard complaints about their network quality and even one of my colleague is looking to port to another telco.
