The folks over at Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has cancelled their collaboration for the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP).

It appears that both Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has decided to drop out of their plans on helping with the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP).

For those of you who aren’t aware, the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP) was created to  expand the availability and improve the affordability of broadband services in all parts of Malaysia. With the world now being more and more dependent on the internet, this move is seen as a step forward and a way to empower the masses with today’s technology.

Both TM and TNB actually signed a Memorandum of Agreement for this on 16th January 2018 after rumours have surfaced on their interest in the NFP. However, it appears that it is no longer the case as the move was “mutually agreed” by both parties. The initial plan was for both companies to capitalize on their combined strength in terms of reach, infrastructure, as well as expertise.

TNB played a major part in the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan, especially since the government had an interest in tapping into company’s extensive fiber network. With the NFP collaboration now off, we are currently left in the dark as to the current state of the plan since it was suppose to take place between 2017 and 2019.

Any points as to why this happened would be merely speculation at the moment as there is no concrete information on that. If there is, we will be updating this article as soon as information becomes available. For now, we just have to hope for the best.

Pokdepinion: Well, the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan was something many people looked forward to as it not only let more people in Malaysia enjoy high speed internet, but also bring down the prices. Let’s hope the plan will still continue, even if it means seeing a delay.
