MSI Afterburner is the go-to graphics card utility, be it for monitoring or for overclocking. It is probably due to this popularity that certain malicious individuals decided to create a fake MSI webpage to host a fake version of Afterburner to lure in unsuspecting users to download their software.

At the time of writing, the page that MSI mentioned was already taken down. However since it has already been done, there’s always the possibility that other unscrupulous individual/organization tries to release fake versions of popular software to trick users into downloading their malicious software.

For those who has not tried MSI Afterburner, you should. The utility provides both NVIDIA and AMD users with the ability to tweak the clocks for their GPU and memory, and also create custom fan profiles.

It is also brand agnostic, so while the name is MSI Afterburner, you can use it with any graphics card out there. MSI bundled the utility with the popular RTSS monitoring software as well, so you can create an OSD to keep tabs on your system at all times.

If you want to check it out for yourself, the official webpage to download MSI Afterburner is at https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-card. The actual link to download the tool is currently down due to routine maintenance, but you will be able to get the latest version of the real MSI Afterburner there.

Pokdepinion: You should always download software from the official webpages anyway, especially if it is a free tool like MSI Afterburner.
