If you for some reason still use Internet Explorer 11, it’s finally time to look for a more modern browser. You have a whole year to get used to it before you will finally have to stop using Internet Explorer. Microsoft will drop support for Internet Explorer from Microsoft’s suite of online services, with Microsoft Teams to be the first to drop support for IE 11, as early as 30th November 2020.

Meanwhile the remainder of Microsoft 365 apps and services will drop support in about a year’s time, on 17th August 2021. For those who are worried about having to access websites built for Internet Explorer, Microsoft is offering an Internet Explorer legacy mode in the new Microsoft Edge that’s based on Chromium. There probably aren’t that many websites that are still designed for Internet Explorer, so I guess this is a really niche use case scenario.

Speaking of which, Microsoft will also be dropping support for the OG Microsoft Edge, to make way for the newer Chromium-based Microsoft Edge. On 9th March 2021, Microsoft will officially stop supporting the legacy version of Microsoft Edge with security updates. I mean, with all the features that the newer Chromium-based Microsoft Edge has over the original Microsoft Edge, it is probably time to move on as well.

Are you still using the old Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer 11? Which browser will you be switching to? Maybe Opera?
