Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) is a new organization within AMD, announced six weeks ago. Led by Raja Konduri, Radeon Technologies will focus on everything regarding graphics, visualization and gaming industries, like DirectX 12 and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.

Last week Pokde.net has published news about AMD preparing a new AMD Omega 2015 driver, instead of the Omega driver, Radeon Technologies announced that the Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) is being put out to pasture and will be replaced by a brand new software built from scratch, named Radeon Software: Crimson Edition. So what’s new about this Radeon Software?

Radeon Software : Crimson Edition is the first product from the RTG which is more than just a driver, but Radeon Software: Crimson Edition is actually a whole new mini graphics Operating System and RTG has decided to name this mini graphics Operating System simply as “Radeon Software”.

They changed almost everything from the ground up, RTG re-designed and re-architect-ed what was previously known as AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and named it Radeon/FirePro Settings which focuses on user experience, form and functionality. The Radeon/FirePro Setting presents users with a new modern user interface that is simple and clean. Performance wise, RTG claims that it has a significantly faster start up than its predecessor.

It also has new features like Game Manager, video quality presets, social media integration, simplified Eyefinity setup and system notification tab. But from the video below we know that the Radeon Software : Crimson Edition will bring improvements for some products, which is what AMD graphics cards users are waiting for. The Radeon Software : Crimson Edition is slated to be available for download at the end of this year.

Pokdepinion : Will Radeon Software : Crimson Edition change some people perception of AMD drivers? A light-weight software driver for graphic cards is a must in my opinion, I hope the software will offer more customization options during the installation setup, allowing users to pick the additional features they want. Custom skin layout? Who doesn’t like that, if Radeon Technologies can throw that in too, it would be a really awesome software.
