“Without Cyanogen, OnePlus would have sold like one device in international markets,” … “Essentially they built their brand on the back of Cyanogen.” – Kirt McMaster

I think this statement is as direct as it gets as Cyanogen and OnePlus will be going down separate paths. With the issue where Cyanogen inked an exclusive agreement which caused OnePlus to be banned entering the Indian market some time back, it’s not surprising to see it come down to this.

“OnePlus shipped reasonable volume, but nothing compared to what some of these other partners can ship,” … “we are working with partners that can scale much quicker.”

I wonder how will OnePlus respond to these statements. I myself was attracted to the OnePlus One because of it coming stock with Cyanogen, besides its awesome pricing, of course. OnePlus already have their in-house OxygenOS so I guess they wouldn’t be affected much, but it still remains to be seen whether OxygenOS will be updated as promptly as Cyanogen’s OS.
