WhatsApp is Developing Their Own Search Engine 26

It looks like WhatsApp is working on their own search engine, which will allow you to find photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, and documents in chat. While it is already available right now, it’s only accessible in the beta versions.

This new WhatsApp search engine is only available for specific beta testers of the app. It will include photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, and documents. It’s expected to make its way to more users in the future, but there is no time frame as to when that will happen. It’s being said that the new WhatsApp search engine currently works rather slow due to the activation being partial on the central app server and the fact that they are undergoing testing and corrections.

The new feature is currently available for a specific beta version, between 2.20.197.7 and 2.20.197.10, but that doesn’t guarantee that you will have access to it. You will have to be selected in order to make use of it. Once they are done testing, it will start to get implemented in more regions. Previously, WhatsApp added a new self-destructing message feature, which can automatically delete messages after a set time period.

It’s being said that the reason for the move is to help curb the spread of false information on WhatsApp. This makes it easier to verify the authenticity of specific information, especially those pesky forwarded messages which now has a proper label to indicate as such. There are more details that have yet to be revealed on the WhatsApp search engine so we will report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.
