The Newest Android 13 Features, Coming Your Way

In this year’s release of Android, now version 13, Google introduces new features to enhance your smartphone experience.

First off is updated Nearby Share: this feature allows you to share files and folders to another Android device instantly. In the upcoming weeks, you’ll be able to share files effortlessly across your own devices – just opt-in to the feature and share files without prompts on devices you signed in with Google, even if your screen is off.

The new updated Google Drive and Google Keep widget offers users one-touch access to Google Docs, Slides and Sheets files, plus notes and to-do lists, optimized for big screens.

Gboard’s new feature – “Emojify” is an interesting one. Type your sentence, and press the button and watch it does the emoji ✨magic✨. This feature is currently in Gboard Beta, and will soon be released for Gboard English over the next few weeks.

By popular demand, Google added new Emoji Kitchen mashups, available as stickers via Gboard. This update includes autumn-themed mix-and-matched emojis for you to share and text. Halloween-inspired emojis too!

Google Meet gets its fair share of new features as well – first is co-watch feature. You can co-watch YouTube videos and play classic games (like UNO!™ Mobile) with up to 100 users at a time.

If you’re in a meeting, Meet got you covered too. The new multi-pinning features allows you to choose certain users to pin on top, like your supervisors and interpreters for example.

Sound Notifications is designed for hearing-impaired users in mind, which allows the phone to detect certain household or emergency sounds (i.e. fire alarm, door knocks) and sends a notification to user’s phone and watch, vibrates your devices or flashing the light on your phone. Now, you can record custom sounds on your own and have your phone detect it for you once you set it up.

Android TV now supports searching shows and movies with Audio Description support – for those with visual blindness or impairments. Just press the Assistant button and say “Search audio description movies” and start discovering.

Wear OS’s Tiles feature  lets you pick what essential info you need for your day in just a swipe. The new Keep tile lets you dictate a note or checklist right on your wrist and manages the ones on your phones or tablets.

Finally, Bitmoji enables you to have your own personal avatar where it will change expressions based on your activity, time of day, and weather. The Bitmoji mobile app is starting to roll out today.
