Aztech VC3000 Smart Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Review

by January 14, 2016
Positives
  • Densely packed with features!
  • Very easy to assemble, maintain and operate
  • Dat Price Bruh!
Negatives
  • It's noisy, but hey, it's a vacuum cleaner. However, perhaps a "night mode" would be a good idea?
  • The remote control could be improved a bit

When you mention the name Aztech, a good amount of our memory hits back to their infamous modems and routers. However, little that we knew, Aztech has spanned their product line not just beyond the technolgy frame, but rather into areas that we really didn’t had a wild guess of.

One of them, is what we are reviewing today – their VC3000 Smart Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. Yes, a robotic vaccuum cleaner. You know, the likes of iRover and such that we see cats getting really attracted to. And why not? WIth all the Star Wars fever going around, a little robot would make our lab a little entertaining indeed. Carrying the Aztech brand, I have nothing less than high expectations for a great quality product that should speak for the company.

It's a gadget, so it belongs here!

The first thing that you immediately notice when you unbox the VC3000 is the plethora of parts that it comes with. It might seem confusing, but Aztech has made their guide really easy to follow, making setup a very easy task. Within less than 10 minutes, you could have your VC3000 on it’s way doing it’s house hold chores already.

If you have not ever owned a robotic vaccuum like me, then even the most “basic” functionalities are going to wow you already. Let along the complex ones like UV sterilisation that are not standard in most of the robotic vaccuum cleaners. And I have to say, these little buggers really nail their job.

Does your Robotic Vacuum Cleaner has all these?

To start off, the VC3000 has an auto cleaning and charging feature. This means, just switch it on and let it do it’s job. It will bump around, hover everywhere, cleaning up all the dust and when it’s tired, it will automatically identify where the charging dock is at and proceed with charging it’s 2000mAh battery. It also has automatic suction power adjustment which is pretty nifty. How this works is that when there is a much larger particle stuck at the suction chamber, it will attempt to try inhale it harder and if that fails too, it will reduce the suction and abandon it, moving forward to the next cleaning area. This way you don’t have to keep getting alerted all the time – it’s a robot afterall.

Yup, you get ALL these inside the box. This is better than Xmas Boxing Day!

The fun part of the VC3000 is it’s self-adjusting trailing bar and rubber blade. This allows the VC3000 to move in areas that are uneven. The VC3000 is capable of adjusting it’s heights based on the surface of the area that it is cleaning. This means that even if the VC3000 stumbles across a carpet, it can easily manouevre over it and clean the dust on the carpet (yes, it does work on rough surfaces too).

This is the dust container, and you will be surprised by the amount it can capture!

But what excites me the most is the fact that this robot has more than enough sensors that make it’s movement rather swift. First there is a drop sensor whereby if it reaches a drop area such as stairs, it will immediately detect it and avoid falling. Then there are dark area sensors that allows the robot to “sniff” through the dark areas for dust and dirt. This is followed by the usual collision detection sensors that comes standard in most of the robot vaccuums. Combining all these, if you are using this for your office, you can just fire it up, and leave the office. By the time you return in the morning, the robot will be resting at it’s dock. If you want to confine it’s movement, there is a 2-way “virtual wall” adapter that you can put to limit the robot’s movement. This way, the robot will not go beyond that area which is really useful for example I don’t want it to get anywhere near my desktop’s cables.

It even has a HEPA filter. Aztech really has put a LOT of thought into this!

If you want to take control, then there is a remote control that you can use to guide it’s motion based on your preference using the arrow keys. There is a spot cleaning option too if you want it to clean only a certain area. Otherwise, just set a scheduled time and come back to a clean space everyday!

Talking about it’s technical specs, the VC3000 is about 35cm in width and 10cm in height, weighing around 2.9kg. It has a 2000mAh Lithium Ion battery that provides about 100 minutes of working time and charges between 3 to 4 hours time. The dustbin capacity is 0.9L which requires cleaning usually once a week if the robot works everyday. It works on pretty much any surface – wood, marble, carpet or ceramic.

I’ve had the VC3000 for well over a month now and all that I can say is, if this is how robots are going to assist us in our daily lives, I welcome the incorporation of robotic lives into ours. I never knew a robot would make my life so easy although it’s as simple as cleaning the floor of your place.

Now, here comes the BEST part! I know you want to know how much is this piece of awesome hardware, and I won’t lie to you. This baby’s SRP is RM899! Yes, you heard that right! What’s your reason not to get it?

For the price. For the Specs. For the functionality and efficiency. This one deserves an award!
