Between the two biggest players of the console market, PlayStation has exclusively offered its PSVR virtual reality headset since 2016, while Microsoft never offered any product in this category for its Xbox brand. One report from GameSandwich indicated that will change, though it’ll be done in similar fashion like the co-branded ROG Ally handheld released just weeks ago.
Meta Quest 3S, Plus Xbox
This move from Microsoft’s gaming division essentially follows the principles of “This Is An Xbox” campaign, where the report said the co-branded Meta Quest 3S – launching this Tuesday – will essentially be the same hardware as the vanilla Quest 3S, with some added Xbox flair added on top of it.

In fact, the retail packaging has been leaked and it shows the classic black-and-green color scheme on the device, and it’ll include an Xbox wireless controller, and an Elite strap, on top of the usual items from the standard model. This variant will also bundle three months of Xbox Game Pass, though games are only accessed through its Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service.
It was reported earlier that Microsoft has put its own in-house gaming handheld project on hold to focus on Windows 11’s gaming performance, which likely stemmed from SteamOS’s emergence as they begin to open up their software to be adopted by other handheld makers. As such, the company has since shifted direction to collaborate with third-part device makers in hopes to establish more ground in the gaming market.
