The Apple M6 chip has a 12-core CPU, which is two more cores than the previous generation; its 12-core GPU also gains two cores and includes a Neural Accelerator in each core. Apple says the GPU delivers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster on-device AI workloads than M5, with support for third-generation ray-tracing engine and Dynamic Caching. As for the NPU side of things, the Dual 16-core Neural Engine is claimed to be up to 1.9x faster than M5.
The laptop comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable up to 32GB, with memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours, claimed to be longest on any Mac. The Liquid Retina XDR display reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and as before, users can option a nano-texture glass which reduces reflections and glare. The laptop also has a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a three-mic array and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, with support for up to two external displays; the ports are HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack. Fast charging reaches up to 50% in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage adapter, such as the 96W Power Adapter.
Customers can pre-order the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 from 29 October at official Apple website or in the Apple Store app. Pre-orders are open in 35 countries and regions, including Malaysia; units begin arriving to customers, Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers on Friday, 6 November. The laptop starts at RM8,299, or RM7,899 with education pricing.
