HONOR Magic6 Pro Is Coming To Malaysia Soon
It’s been a year since the Magic5 series, and today HONOR is introducing its successor, the Magic6 Pro, which will soon enter the Malaysian market. The predecessor sparked significant interest among local consumers, and as the smartphone maker touts it, “one of HONOR’s highest demand releases within the community.” With the successor on the way, here’s what to expect.
The HONOR Magic6 Pro will continue the expertise of camera technology set by its predecessors, this time around the updated Falcon Camera System is powered by an AI model with a 28x larger dataset than the previous generation. The triple-camera system now consists of a primary dual-aperture (f/1.4 + f/2.0) 50MP sensor, a 180MP telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom capability, and a 50MP ultrawide shooter with 122° FOV. At the front is another 50MP camera with a ToF sensor forming a pill-shaped cutout.
If you remember the HONOR X9b 5G last year, that smartphone was marketed with a toughened glass that could withstand some pretty brutal abuse – the company is upping the ante this time around with the new NanoCrystal Shield on the front glass. It’s touted as “the industry’s most drop-resistant screen glass to date,” with SGS Five Star Overall Glass Drop Resistance Ability certification to back it up. HONOR says the glass features 10x greater shock absorption compared to regular glass.
Below this toughened glass is a 6.8-inch LTPO quad-curved OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and an eye-searing 5,000nits of peak HDR brightness. On that note, it features the first full-screen always-on display on Android smartphones, according to HONOR – though AOD has been a mainstay in pretty much every Android smartphone these days, just not in the way Apple does to iPhones, which dims the entire screen instead. Speaking of which, Magic Capsule is pretty much HONOR’s take on Apple’s Dynamic Island notifications.
The second-gen 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery also comes with 80W wired and 66W wireless fast charging capabilities, and there’s even a dedicated HONOR E1 chip responsible for the battery management – which is why it’s capable of withstanding extremely low temperatures of -20°C while still maintaining its intended battery performance (most batteries at this temperature will have its runtime significantly reduced).
Since the smartphone hasn’t officially entered Malaysia just yet, there’s no word on pricing so far. However, the launch should be pretty soon – so watch this space. The company previously confirmed that a new flip phone and smart ring are currently in the works, set to launch later this year.
