Have you ever wondered what devices your favorite content creators or tech journalists use on a daily basis? I’ll be honest, mine constantly changes given the nature of the job but let me tell you one that I’ve been sticking to the longest for a while consisting of three specific gears; the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Buds3 Pro, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Is my EDC (everyday carry) overkill? Let’s find out.

The Star of the Show: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6

I picked the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 because of how I typically use smartphones. Usually, it’s just a mixture of social media, light web browsing, and communicating with friends and work-related matters over WhatsApp, email, and Discord. I personally don’t really play mobile games as I’d rather focus on doing other activities while I’m out and about. If I’m at home, I’d be playing games on PC, so it’s not necessary. If I ever get stuck in a situation where I’m bored and can’t leave yet, only then will I play but that’s a rare occasion.

To me, this is as great of a pick as I can get as it has everything I need in a very compact form. 256GB storage and 12GB RAM are plenty for my use case, the improved battery capacity makes it easy to last one full day so I don’t need to carry around a powerbank, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 provides more than adequate performance across the board. Sure, the camera might not be the best around, even compared to Samsung’s own offerings like the S24 Ultra but it’s still of great quality, both in photos and videos, with the option of taking great selfies conveniently thanks to the cover display.

Great For Phone Calls and Audio: Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro

Sure, the speakers are above average but for when I prefer a more private listening experience, that’s where the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro comes into play. Since it’s within the Korean giant’s ecosystem, it’s so easy to connect as you only need to take out the earbuds from the case. To be precise, my Z Flip6 did have a pop up asking if I want to connect to the Galaxy Buds3 Pro for the first time but ever since then, I just need to wear the earbuds and I’m good to go, no fiddling necessary.

Is it the best sounding earbuds ever? No. But does it still sound good? It sounds great actually. The bass is strong, with sub-bass frequencies providing a satisfying rumble when set to Bass Boost. However, it’s the midrange where these earbuds truly shine. Instruments and melodies are clearly defined, and vocals come across naturally with just the right amount of brightness in the higher frequencies. The ANC does a good job of cancelling out constant noises and it can intelligently lower it down if it detects an alarm / siren.

It’s especially useful for taking phone calls no matter where you are at. The ANC feature lets you listen to the person on the other line better and the microphone does a good job at focusing on your voice. Moreover, the microphone quality has upgraded significantly over its predecessor, the Buds2 Pro, as you get a whole full-bodied voice quality this time around. It far exceeds the typical phone call quality for voice, which is great.

An Ultra That’s More Suitable For The Ultra: Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

Lastly, we have the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, the greatest smartwatch that the Korean giant has ever produced. It’s also the most premium and durable one they’ve ever produced, being built with a mixture of Grade 4 Titanium, ceramic, and sapphire glass. The end results is a wearable that meets three durability standards; MIL-STD 810H, IP68 and 10ATM, meaning you can take it with you to even extreme adventures and it will be perfectly fine. The L1+LG dual-frequency GPS puts it on par with premium outdoor wearables.

My favorite thing with the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is the battery life. The battery capacity had a massive upgrade from 425mAh to 590mAh, with it lasting 2 full days of use, 3 full days if you disable Always-On Display with no Power Saving necessary. They managed to do this while fixing the infamous notification delay and still pack a chockful of heath-centric features. I could talk more about the health sensors but that would take a whole dedicated section so you can check out the review by clicking right here.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Review -
Is My Samsung EDC Gadgets Overkill?

Would I recommend the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra for the Galaxy Z Flip6? In all honesty, no, and for a good reason. If you’re using the Z Flip6, you’ll likely rely on the Cover Display to do most of the things you’d do in a smartwatch, and you’d only really benefit from the health tracking features. It’s not a bad watch, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. I’d say it makes more sense to get a smartwatch for non-Flip devices, with this being the perfect companion for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Z Fold6.

Personally for me, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is a great buy, especially with the battery life improvement over its predecessor but if you’re already on the Z Flip5, wait it out for at least another year before upgrading. The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro is a great add-on as it looks and sounds great, though many may disagree with me on the first part. As for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, I would recommend it (or any smartwatch for that matter) only for non-Flip devices but the Ultra stands tall for its superbly long battery life. What do you think?
