AMD is not satisfied with fighting on the consumer and data center fronts only. With the latest Ryzen PRO CPUs, they are looking for a piece of the business and commercial desktop PC market as well. The latest lineup of Ryzen 7 PRO, Ryzen 5 PRO and Ryzen 3 PRO professional-grade CPUs offer enhanced security, higher reliability and are slated to be available by the second half of 2017.

Thr Ryzen PRO will be available in a series of SKUs similar to the consumer Ryzen models. The Ryzen 7 PRO CPUs will be the full fat 8C/16T CPUs, the Ryzen 5 PRO CPUs cut down to 6C/12T or 4C/8T while the Ryzen 3 PRO CPUs will be the lowest end in the line up, with 4C/4T as simultaneous multithreading (SMT) is disabled here. All Ryzen PRO CPUs support ECC technology, just like their consumer counterparts.

They also sport all the features that are available on your regular Ryzen CPU such as SenseMI, Precision Boost, XFR, Neural Net Prediction and more. With all these features in place, the Ryzen PRO CPUs will be on par with the standard Ryzen CPUs’ performance. There is no Ryzen PRO 1800X here simply because AMD expects business PCs to not have the cooling capacities of enthusiast rigs, thus decides to do away with their more powerful CPU for the PRO lineup.

AMD brings additional security to the AMD Ryzen PRO platform with Secure Boot, Content Protection, per-application security, and fTPM 2.0 on top of support for Microsoft Device Guard, Windows Hello, fingerprint security, data protection and more. AES encryption of system memory is also available, with a dedicated AES-128 engine ensuring that the performance hit is minimal. With Secure Memory Encryption, even data in the RAM will be protected. This is a feature that Intel has yet to implement in their platform, giving AMD the headstart in this area.

Ryzen PRO platforms support the DASH management protocol for remote management. AMD promises 18 months of image stability, 24 months of processor availability and a three-year warranty. AMD claims that they are using wafers with the highest yields to provide chips that are capable of long term reliability, thus the longer warranty reflects their confidence in their product.

No pricing was revealed at the time of writing.

Pokdepinion: Well Intel, watch your back. AMD is going all out on the offensive.
