Opensignal Releases 4G Speed Fluctuation Report For Malaysian Mobile Internet Users
It turns out that the folks from Opensignal, the independent global standard for analyzing consumer mobile experience, has released their studies regarding 4G users in Malaysia.
In terms of best 4G speeds offered in across 77 that they’ve studies, Malaysia ranks 66th. On average, Malaysia gets 21Mbps during off peak periods, which is faster than the Philippines (19Mbps), Indonesia (18.5Mbps) and Thailand (11.7Mbps).
Surprisingly, Cambodia (23.1Mbps), Vietnam (26.4Mbps) and Myanmar (32.7Mbps) offers faster average speeds. Way up in the scores is Singapore which they have 54.7Mbps and top spot goes to South Korea where they score 55.7Mbps on average.
Our 4G experience shows extreme speed variability depending on the time of day. Speeds ranged from as little as 9Mbps at Malaysia’s peak hour of 10pm, up to 21Mbps at off peak hours, which is between 1am to 3am.
These fluctuations in 4G Download Speeds are most likely caused by congestion on the network as the slowest speeds always occur when demand for mobile data is the highest.
