Samsung Galaxy S10e will sport tiny battery — what’s the point of reverse charging then?
There has been a leaked table of the Samsung Galaxy S10 series’ specifications going around the Internet, and while we are literally minutes away from the launch, the Samsung Galaxy S10 series may be held back by one pretty important specification — their batteries.
The Samsung Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10e are expected to sport reverse wireless charging, but the Galaxy S10e in particular might be needing a topup more than any device around them. The Galaxy S10e’s battery is purportedly going to be a tiny 3100 mAh one, while the Galaxy S10 sports a decent 3400 mAh battery and the Galaxy S10+ touts a larger 4100 mAh battery.
Given that the largest battery a Samsung flagship has ever offered is the 4000 mAh battery in the Galaxy Note9, this is somewhat to be expected. Samsung isn’t really into packing huge batteries in their devices after the nightmare that was the Note7, despite the Exynos chipsets being rather inefficient in the past.
Hopefully that will change with the new 8nm Exynos 9820, as Samsung will definitely need it to be efficient if they are going to compete with the larger batteries the competition is offering. For comparison, the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro offers a larger 4200 mAh power pack while supporting the same reverse charging feature.
Samsung may be fighting an uphill battle with this generation, as the competition has improved to a point where Samsung’s advantage in terms of experience and hardware quality has shrunken drastically. What do you think?
