ViewQwest: 100Mbps But Cheaper Than TIME Fibre? The Plans Are Superbly Affordable
The Singaporean-based ViewQwest has quietly rolled out their Malaysian residential internet plans and it looks superbly affordable. It’s cheaper than TIME Fibre.
ViewQwest: 100Mbps But Cheaper Than TIME Fibre?
Sometime last year, a Singapore-based ISP (Internet Service Provider) called ViewQwest announced that they will be expanding their operations to Malaysia. It’s almost the end of 2017 and we haven’t heard from them yet. Well, turns out, they’ve quietly announced, if those 2 words put together even makes sense, their residential internet plans.
The internet plan is called Fibernet, and it’s one of the most affordable home internet plans you can find here in Malaysia. At the moment, they only have 3 plans under Fibernet, which are:
- 100 Mbps: RM148 per month
- 300 Mbps: RM188 per month
- 500 Mbps: RM298 per month
It’s worth noting that the 100Mbps plan from ViewQwest is actually cheaper than what TIME Internet is offering…by RM1. But hey, it’s still cheaper nonetheless. It’s been said that each customer will have round-the-clock tech support, dynamic IP address, and the most interesting part of it all, an ASUS RT-AC1200G+ router.
ViewQwest highlighted 3 key features of their Fibernet offering. The first is Zero Traffic Shaping, which they mentioned that each user will have the full bandwidth available to them and they do not do any traffic prioritization, ever. The 2nd one is Ultimate Bit-Torrent Broadband, where they mentioned that they have absolutely zero restrictions on it and thus, you can have the best P2P experience unlike anything out there. And lastly, Latency Based Routing, where each user will have the best possible latency and thus, faster access to website and serves every single time.
Okay, now here’s the bit of bad news. At this moment in time, ViewQwest’s Fibernet plans are only available in Setia Eco Glades, Cyberjaya. If you’re not staying in that area, you’ll have to wait longer for it to be available at your place.
While they aren’t capable of providing the initially targetted 1Gbps speed for residential areas, having them around is still good for us as it will force everyone in the ISP market to be competitive. Now to pray that it will expand fast so everyone will be able to enjoy it.

Pokdepinion: Well, things are becoming quite interesting for ISPs here in Malaysia. Too bad it’s limited to just a part of Cyberjaya but hey, if you were planning to move to a new place, maybe Setia Eco Glades is the place to go.
