While AMD has publicized the new RDNA 4-powered GPUs in the form of RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 at CES 2025, not much has been announced beyond the model names. Since then, there has been leaks detailing the specs of these new GPUs, and several retailer around the word has even revealed the packaging of the upcoming cards.
RX 9070 XT & RX 9070: Leaks So Far
First off, the specs – according to a somewhat cryptic message from the leaker @momomo_us on X (Twitter), the specs of both cards may look like this:
Specs | RX 9070 XT | RX 9070 |
---|---|---|
Stream Processors (Compute Units) | 4096 (64) | 3584 (56) |
Boost Clock | 2970 MHz | 2520 MHz |
Base Clock | 2400 MHz | 2070 MHz |
Memory | 16GB GDDR6, 20Gbps, 256-bit, 640GB/s bandwidth | |
PCIe Standard | PCIe 5.0 |
Leaks from retailers also corroborated some of the specs, mainly the 16GB VRAM – though one thing that differs is the PCIe standard. While the leaker claims both cards will be running on the newer PCIe 5.0 standard, one retailer OCUK claimed the card will be running on PCIe 4.0 standard instead (the FAQ page was redacted since). Still, assuming both runs on the x16 bus, there won’t be any performance difference between the two, as both GPUs are far from saturating the connector’s bandwidth.

Furthermore, there are several AIB models revealed in images and listings, including SAPPHIRE, GIGABYTE, ASUS, and PowerColor (which also includes an all-new Reaper series); the new box designs will also see less red and more black for the Radeon branding. In any case, there doesn’t seem to be any reliable indications on when AMD will be officially introducing these cards despite the card’s already widespread presence in the leaks, so we’ll have to wait and see for now.
Pokdepinion: The whole situation seems rather odd. Was AMD trying to push back the launch dates?
