Remember when leaks revealed that AMD had some rather odd-sounding model names for its upcoming RDNA5/UDNA silicon? It turns out names like ‘AT0’ and ‘AT2’ are probably referring to Alpha Trion – one of the oldest living Transformers in the namesake’s lore.
RDNA5/UDNA Codenames Revealed

This information comes from prominent leaker Kepler_L2, who claims that Alpha Trion is the umbrella codename for all of AMD’s upcoming desktop GPUs. Besides that, there are also two other names – Ultra Magnus and Orion Pax (better known as Optimus Prime). These two names, according to the leaker, refers to the upcoming semi-custom silicon powering next-gen Xbox console and PlayStation 6, respectively.
For a whole decade, AMD’s GPU silicon family codenames referenced interstellar bodies like Polaris, Vega, then Navi, along with datacenter equivalents like Arcturus and Aldebaran; though in the case of RDNA 2 and RDNA 3, individual silicon also gets a fish-themed codenames like Sienna Cichlid, Hotpink Bonefish, and more.
In case you missed it, there have been at least four silicon variants of RDNA5/UDNA planned, with codenames like AT0, AT2, AT3, and AT4. The AT0 is, as told by the same leaker, will likely feature 96 Compute Units with a 512-bit memory bus; while the mainstream-focused AT2 features 40 CUs with a 192-bit memory bus. This is followed by AT3 with 24 CUs, and AT4 with 12 CUs, both of which likely are designed for laptops.
