ASUS ROG Unveils Its Lineup Of New PC Peripherals & Components

While we’ve seen lots of ROG hardware releases at the CES 2024 thus far, here are a few products that fall under the peripherals and components category that you may have missed.

In terms of peripherals, the ROG Keris II Ace returns with upgraded specs. First is the weight – the Keris II Ace slashed another 8 grams off the original model, totaling just 54 grams; the optical-mechanical switches are also upgraded to last for 100 million clicks. The new ROG AimPoint Pro sensor offers less than 1% deviation, enough to be used on glass surfaces – and the resolution is now raised to 42,000 DPI. Like most wireless mice, it connects to host PCs with three modes (2.4GHz, BT, wired). However, no battery capacity nor battery life figures have been provided so far.

The mouse requires a dedicated “ROG Polling Rate Booster” to kick polling rates up a notch, even in wired mode. By default, the mouse operates at the polling rate of 1000Hz – pairing the booster will bring that figure up to 4000Hz for wireless mode, and 8000Hz under wired mode.

Next up is the ROG Falchion RX Low Profile – while it shares the name with the full-height Falchion and Falchion NX, the chassis design is vastly different (and it’s also white). In any case, you get the new RX Low Profile optical switches (in Red and Blue variants) that come pre-lubed, dampened by two silicone layers, coupled with the UV-coated ABS keycaps. One addition to this keyboard is the support for MacOS, which is now labeled with OS-specific modifier keys.

Moving on to audio products, ROG has given its Cetra TWS earbuds a new trick: 2.4GHz connectivity. The ROG Cetra True Wireless SpeedNova, as it is officially named, also gets upgraded microphones (now with AI Noise Cancellation) and drivers, as well as increased battery life. Oh, there’s RGB, too. Turn that and ANC off, you’ll be able to get as much as 46 hours of combined runtime in a single charge.

ASUS is also finally back in the microphone game – since its last release of the ROG Strix Magnus microphone in 2017, the new ROG Carnyx is here to take its spot on the market. The Carnyx is a USB cardioid microphone that uses a single 25mm condenser that delivers 192 kHz / 24-bit audio recording. There’s the high-pass filter as well as the pop filter, coupled with a metal shock mount to minimize unwanted noises.

In the controller segment, the ROG Tessen Mobile Controller is the company’s answer to universal smartphone controllers: the foldable hinge can be folded in half to reduce its footprint in bags or pockets. The Type-C connector has been specifically lengthened to make sure it makes contact with the smartphone even with bumper cases installed, and there’s also an 18W USB-C passthrough to enable charging even with the controller connected.

Rounding up the peripherals is the ROG Archer ErgoAir Gaming Backpack – it features an “airflow tunnel back-rest design” that provides users with comfort and support, which supports the user’s back while protecting the laptops inside. Speaking of which, its 40-liter internal capacity can accommodate 17-inch laptops (or 18-inch, if you’re counting 16:10 ones), and the adjustable roll-top design allows users to pack any oversized items.

On the components side of things, ROG is updating its AIO cooler lineup, with two new offerings. The new ROG Strix LC III series brings the new Asetek-designed cold plate and 7th gen V2 pump, with the new turbulence-channel cold plate technology that provides greater thermal dissipation over split-flow designs. The new model also includes a waterblock that can now be freely rotated, and it comes with a 2.1-inch onboard display.

Also introduced is the ROG Ryujin III WB – the company’s first-ever open-loop water cooling solution. You still get the 3.5-inch LCD screen that you can customize as long as your imagination allows, and it’ll help cool the VRM components through its internal axial fan housed below. Being open-loop means this is strictly for high-end custom water cooling loops only – so get this only when you have plenty of time and money to burn.
