HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.7 “Bury Your Tears with the Past” will be released on April 23, concluding the storyline of Season 1. This update will uncover the truth behind the Sacrifice crisis as players explore Vivian’s past and investigate the circumstances surrounding Hugo’s disappearance.

As New Eridu faces heightened instability following Hugo’s descent into the Hollow, Proxies will work with Vivian to locate the Sacrifice Core and uncover her connection with figures from her past. A special investigator, classified as a Void Hunter and assigned by the city’s mayor, will aid Proxies in addressing the Exaltists’ growing threat.
Version 1.7 introduces two S-Rank Agents from Mockingbird. Vivian, an Ether Anomaly Agent, uses a parasol and rapier in both aerial and ground combat, enhancing Anomaly damage and supporting team-based Corruption attacks. Hugo, an Ice Attack Agent, utilizes a transforming suitcase weapon to execute slashing attacks and area-of-effect damage, with increased output when targeting stunned enemies through the Totalize mechanic. Robin, a Bangboo unit, will support them with card-based attacks that offer various effects. The update will also include rerun banners for Jane, a Physical Anomaly Agent, and Lighter, a Fire Stun Agent.
In addition to narrative developments and combat additions, new in-game activities will be introduced. “Say It With Flowers” will allow players to manage a flower shop and create arrangements for clients, unlocking interactive features in Quality Time mode and offering rewards such as the A-Rank Bangboo Overtimeboo. The competitive Bangboo Bash event will return with a ranked mode, where participants navigate obstacle and survival courses to earn rewards based on placement and leaderboard ranking.
