Samsung Malaysia has announced an update to the recommended retail prices (RRP) of the Galaxy A07 and Galaxy A17 smartphones, effective July 27, 2026. The smartphone maker attributed the change to RAM pricing, which has since remained extremely high as AI and datacenter industry scoops up global memory supply as they race to build new datacenters around the world.
Galaxy A07 & Galaxy A17 Is Now Pricier
Mind you, despite Samsung also being one of the three leading maker of memory chips (the other two being its corporate compatriot SK Hynix, along with US-based Micron), many divisions under this giant Korean chaebol somewhat operates independently of each other. This is how its smartphone division, rather infamously, couldn’t even buy RAM from “itself”.

“Despite ongoing efforts to absorb these rising costs and minimize the impact on consumers, the current market environment has made a price revision necessary,” the company said in its press statement. In any case, here are the updated prices for Samsung’s current lineup of budget smartphones:
| Device | RRP before revision | RRP after revision |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A07 5G (8GB + 256GB) | RM1,029 | RM1,149 |
| Galaxy A07 LTE (8GB + 256GB) | RM899 | RM1,049 |
| Galaxy A17 5G (8GB + 256GB) | RM1,149 | RM1,299 |
| Galaxy A17 LTE (8GB + 256GB) | RM949 | RM1,149 |
Pokdepinion: There’s truly no escaping RAM price spikes – terrible times, indeed.
