HONOR has unveiled a new short film titled The Sea Between Us, a Mid-Autumn epilogue to the US$300 million box-office hit Dear You, filmed entirely on the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max. The yet-to-launch smartphone takes center stage as the sole production device, with actor Wang Yantong reprising his role as Zheng Musheng in the emotional follow-up story.
HONOR Magic9 Pro Max Takes On Cinematic Filming
The epilogue was produced through HONOR’s partnership with ARRI, a century-old name in professional cinematic imaging known for its work on Hollywood blockbusters and award-winning productions. As part of this collaboration between the two brands, ARRI’s expertise in cinematic color science has been translated into the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max’s camera system.
Every frame of The Sea Between Us was captured on the device, HONOR says, describing the visual output as “bright without being harsh and detailed without losing emotional character.” The Sea Between Us is set during the Mid-Autumn Festival and is built around themes of distance and longing across generations. The story is framed around the experience of being far from home, whether working in the city, studying abroad, or simply unable to return for the occasion.
The epilogue is available to watch on the HONOR Malaysia official Facebook page (or you can watch it above). HONOR has indicated that further updates on the Magic9 Pro Max will follow ahead of the device’s official launch.
