Malaysian robotics firm MR. ROBOT (a subsidiary of MR.DIY) and gig workforce platform TROOPERS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the collection and use of real-world training data for humanoid robotics and embodied AI.
MR. ROBOT And TROOPERS To Combine Human & Robot Data Streams
TROOPERS’ workforce spans frontline industries including retail, warehousing, food and beverage, and events – under the proposed collaboration, TROOPERS will coordinate participating workplaces, manage worker consent, and facilitate first-person task recordings captured from workers’ perspectives. These recordings will document the movements, actions, and workflows involved in performing everyday commercial tasks such as stocking shelves, picking and packing, and food preparation.
MR. ROBOT operates a purpose-built Data Collection Centre in Malaysia housing 20 AgiBot G2 humanoid robots running around the clock; TROOPERS will complement this facility by providing structured, first-person task data sourced directly from real workplaces rather than controlled robotics environments. Through its Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) model, MR. ROBOT will manage data collection, annotation, quality review, and dataset preparation. The combined model draws on two data streams: egocentric human data showing how people perform tasks, and robot-generated data capturing robotic movement and behavior.
