Google has officially launched the Google AI Educator Series (GES) in Malaysia, a free, standards-aligned AI literacy training program designed specifically for educators. The program is available to both K-12 school teachers and higher education faculty at no cost.

Malaysia already leads the world in Google’s Gemini Certified Educators program, with more than 200,000 teachers having completed certification nationwide; the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) have also enabled Gemini for Education across K-12 schools and public universities, reaching millions of students and educators across the country.

The Google AI Educator Series is structured as a self-paced training program, with sessions ranging from 15 to 45 minutes each. The format is designed to fit around the demanding schedules of working educators, allowing them to pick up new skills incrementally and apply them in the classroom right away. Practical applications covered in the program include creating lesson plans and supporting materials, drafting parent communications, and using vibe coding to build interactive simulations and assignments.

Google also announced several updates to its education tools: Guided Learning is coming to Google Classroom in the coming months, allowing educators to select their own class materials and provide students with step-by-step instructions tailored to specific lesson content. Educators will also gain access to real-time progress tracking and insights to help identify and address gaps in student understanding.

Read Along, Google’s digital reading tutor, is now available at no additional cost to all Google Workspace for Education users. The library is being expanded with over 60 native and translated Malay titles, complete with interactive comprehension questions.

A reading assignments feature is also launching on the Read Along mobile app this month, allowing students to practice independently at home with real-time pronunciation support from an AI reading companion; teachers receive fluency insights directly within Google Classroom. All Malaysian teachers and students with a DELIMa account can access these features.

Pokdepinion: 200,000 certified teachers and now a full free training series – Malaysian educators are apparently speedrunning the AI era.
