Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé alongside a sneak preview of the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé at KLCC Plaza, coinciding with the return of Formula 1 to Malaysia this weekend.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 450kW (612hp) and 850Nm of torque, squeezing out 20kW (27hp) and 50Nm more than the standard GT 63; power is routed through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. The car accelerates from zero to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, half a second quicker than the GT 63, and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h.
Cooling has been substantially upgraded, with two additional radiators positioned in the front wheel arches and actively cooled top-mounted radiators on both differential units and the transfer case. Electrically operated water pumps circulate coolant through dedicated circuits to manage heat under sustained high-load conditions, which is particularly relevant for track use.

Aerodynamic improvements include a redesigned front apron with carbon-fiber air deflectors around enlarged side air intakes, an active underbody aero profile, the AIRPANEL active air control system, and a fixed rear wing. Front-axle aerodynamic lift is reduced by over 30 kilograms, while rear downforce increases by approximately 15 kilograms. Underbody fins – similar in concept to those on the Mercedes-AMG ONE – helps accelerate airflow beneath the car to induce extra downforce via ground effect.
The AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system features 420mm front discs with six-piston fixed calipers, reducing unsprung mass and offering improved fade resistance. The suspension includes AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL with active roll stabilization and up to 2.5 degrees of rear-axle steering.

Externally, the GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé comes with 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber package, AMG Night Package II, and DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with projection function. The interior features AMG Performance seats in Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfiber, an AMG Performance steering wheel in carbon fiber, AMG carbon-fiber trim, and a MANUFAKTUR roof liner in black MICROCUT microfiber with yellow seat belts.
The cockpit centers on the MBUX multimedia system combining a 12.3-inch driver display with an 11.9-inch central display, augmented by a head-up display and MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation. AMG TRACK PACE is included for racetrack analysis, while a Burmester surround sound system with 11 speakers completes the cabin.

A Motorsport Collectors Edition is also offered, limited to 200 units worldwide. Built on the GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Coupé, it is finished in obsidian black with a Mercedes-Benz Star Pattern and features PETRONAS-colored aerodynamic accents, brake calipers, and rim detailing. The interior adds PETRONAS-contrasted topstitching, an edition-specific center-console badge, and the Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System.
2nd-Gen Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé

Meanwhile, the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé is the first series-production electric vehicle to use axial-flux motor technology, though sticking an all-electric powertrain into a top-level AMG sports car has so far proved to be rather controversial in the automotive community. Either way, three axial-flux motors deliver a combined output of up to 860kW (1,169hp), distributed via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring across the two rear wheels.
At the core of the AMG.EA platform is the AMG High Performance Electric Battery (AMG HP.EB), developed with input from Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains in Brixworth, England, which is responsible for the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar, as well as its Formula 1 team’s engines that currently leads in championship standings. The 800-volt battery uses directly cooled cylindrical cells and supports DC charging at up to 350kW, with intelligent pre-conditioning and thermal management for sustained charging performance.

With EV comes the lack of genuine engine sound, so this bit, Mercedes says, is addressed through the AMGFORCE S+ drive program. It claims to use a patent-pending system drawing on over 1,600 sound files to recreate V8 acoustics adapted in real time to the driving situation – the system covers acceleration, gear-change events, burbling, and ambient sounds such as a heartbeat-like welcome tone when entering the vehicle and a distinctive click when connecting the charging cable.
Driver control is centralized through the AMG RACE ENGINEER system, consisting of a high-performance central chip (AMG RACE ENGINEER Core) and three rotary controllers integrated into the center console (AMG RACE ENGINEER Control Unit). The three controllers manage motor response behavior, cornering agility (torque distribution around the vertical axis), and traction control across nine stages.
Suspension is handled by AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension with semi-active roll stabilization, triple-adjustable air springs, and an 8.2-liter pressure reservoir for rapid ride-height changes. Active rear-axle steering adjusts up to 6 degrees in either direction: below 80 km/h, rear wheels steer opposite to the fronts for improved agility; above 80 km/h, they steer in the same direction for stability.
The braking system combines a carbon-ceramic front brake with a steel rear brake, blending regenerative and friction braking with a consistent pedal feel. The active AEROKINETICS package includes a rear diffuser, two underbody Venturi flow elements (deploying from 120 km/h and 140 km/h respectively), and an extendable rear spoiler. The car sits 4cm lower than its predecessor despite housing a battery in the underbody.

The interior features AMG Performance seats in Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfiber, an AMG Performance steering wheel in carbon fiber design, carbon-fiber trim, and a SKY CONTROL panoramic roof with illuminated graphics. The driver-facing cockpit uses a 10.2-inch instrument cluster and a 14-inch multimedia monitor in a seamless-glass design, alongside a separate 14-inch passenger display. The Burmester 3D Surround Sound System and AMGFORCE 4D Sound are fitted as standard.
Malaysian-specification safety equipment includes MB.DRIVE ASSIST, a 360-degree camera system, Blind Spot Assist, Distance Assist DISTRONIC, PARKTRONIC, and GUARD 360-degree vehicle protection. The MBUX infotainment system runs on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and includes the AMG Performance Menu, AMG Set-Up, and AMG TRACK PACE applications.
Pokdepinion: They already got burned once for the 4-pot C63 AMG, so I highly doubt a full EV AMG is going to convince anyone.
