Apple has finally made a foldable. The iPhone Duo is now on sale in Malaysia from RM9,499, and it brings a few firsts to the iPhone line, along with some trade-offs worth knowing before you buy.
The Thinnest iPhone Yet, and the Heaviest

Unfolded, the iPhone Duo measures 5.2mm thick, which makes it thinner than the 5.64mm iPhone Air and the thinnest iPhone Apple has made so far. Folded, it measures 11.3mm. At 254g, it is also the heaviest iPhone to date. The frame is made of Grade 5 titanium, and the phone carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Two Displays, Built to Hide the Crease

When closed, the iPhone Duo uses a 5.4-inch outer display with a wide, passport-like shape. Open it up and you get a 7.6-inch inner display. Both screens support ProMotion at up to 120Hz and reach up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. The inner display uses a 10-layer construction that Apple says is designed to minimise the visible crease.
A Hinge With More Than 100 Parts

The hinge is made up of more than 100 components, and its outer shell is 3D printed from titanium. It opens fully flat at 180 degrees and shuts with a magnetic click. Early reviews have been consistently positive about how it feels in daily use.
Split View Comes to the iPhone

Running iOS 27, the iPhone Duo is the first iPhone to support Split View, which lets you run two apps, or two windows of the same app, side by side on the inner display. There are limitations at launch. Split View only works in landscape, the split is fixed at 50/50, and third-party apps that have not been updated yet can show black bars on both sides of the screen.
Performance, Battery and Cameras

Powering the iPhone Duo is the A20 Pro, the same chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro, paired with a custom vapor chamber for cooling. Apple uses a dual battery design here, with one battery in each half of the phone. Around the back are two cameras, a 48MP Fusion main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. There is no dedicated telephoto lens, which the three-camera iPhone 18 Pro does have.
The Trade-Offs

Instead of Face ID, the iPhone Duo relies on Touch ID built into the side button. Along with the missing telephoto lens, the extra thickness when folded and app support that is still catching up, these are the main compromises to weigh against the new form factor.
iPhone Duo Malaysia Price and Availability

The iPhone Duo is available in Malaysia in Star White and Night Sky. The 256GB model is priced at RM9,499, the 512GB model at RM10,499, the 1TB model at RM12,499 and the 2TB model at RM15,499. It went on sale on 23rd October 2026.
Pokdepinion: Lovely hinge and neat tricks, but RM9,499 with no Face ID? I’d probably wait for the second one.
