DENZA, a premium sub-brand under BYD, has officially entered the Malaysian automotive market with the launch of its flagship MPV, the DENZA D9. The luxury EV brand was originally a joint venture between BYD and Daimler AG (owners of Mercedes-Benz) back in 2010, though it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Chinese EV giant, following the restructuring last year.
DENZA D9 Launches In Malaysia

The DENZA D9 features the e3 power system with three electric motors, rear-wheel steering, Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, and Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) to provide stable performance in various driving conditions; the vehicle also includes BYD’s DiSus suspension technologies to improve ride quality and handling across different terrains.

Another notable addition is the sound system courtesy of French luxury audio brand Devialet to complement the MPV’s luxurious interior. Besides that, the driver instrument display is a 10.25-inch unit coupled with a 15.6-inch center console that couples with the “Hi DENZA” voice control, along with ambient lighting. The first two rows of seats also get access to wireless charging pads that provides up to 50W of charging power for smartphones, while second row gets access to integrated fridge and retractable table.
The DENZA D9 will be available in Malaysia in two variants: the DENZA D9 Advanced (FWD) priced at RM259,000 and the DENZA D9 Premium (AWD) at RM309,000. The former features 230kW (308hp) electric motors, while the latter packs an additional 45kW (60hp) rear motor with a combined output of 275kW (369hp). All told, the FWD version propels to 100km/h in 9.5 seconds, while the AWD version reaches there in 6.9 seconds.

Range is listed as 600km for the FWD, while the AWD gets slightly less range at 580km, both from their 103.6kW BYD-designed Blade battery; charging is done through either 11kW AC or 166kW DC charging. Vehicle dimensions are listed as 5250 x 1960 x 1920 mm, with 3110 mm wheelbase and runs on the 235/60 R18 tires, while the interior space offers luggage capacity ranging from 410 to 2310 liters.
Customers will have three exterior color options – Arctic White, Cosmos Black, and Whale Sea Blue – along with interior choices in Beige and Brown. The model comes with up to an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery, an eight-year or 150,000 km warranty for the drive motor and motor controller, and a six-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty.
Pokdepinion: Quite a decent amount of luxury by the looks of it.
