The highly anticipated 2025 Toyota Camry XV80 is slated for a Malaysia launch before the end of this year, bringing a fresh update to the D-segment sedan market. Following its recent debut in Thailand, the new Camry will be imported to Malaysia, continuing its legacy as a top contender in its class.

As with previous generations, the 2025 Toyota Camry XV80 will be imported from Thailand, allowing for a shorter lead time between its Thai debut and the Malaysian release. This is in contrast to locally assembled models, which typically require additional time for plant retooling and parts sourcing from local vendors.

A local Toyota dealer, as reported by Wapcar, mentioned that their inventory of the outgoing XV70 generation Camry has already sold out. Interested buyers are now being advised to reserve the new model ahead of its expected launch by December 2024. Sales advisors have already completed their product training for the new Camry, further signaling its imminent arrival.

Possible Hybrid Variant

Rumors suggest that a hybrid variant could be joining the Malaysian lineup, which would be an exciting addition to Toyota’s hybrid offerings in the country. Currently, UMW Toyota Motor sells the locally assembled Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and the Indonesia-made Innova Zenix as its hybrid options. A hybrid Camry would align with the brand’s commitment to expanding its eco-friendly vehicle range.

The 2025 Toyota Camry XV80 marks a significant upgrade over the XV70 model, with most of the changes being aesthetic. However, these updates are expected to make a major impact on the vehicle’s overall design and appeal.

For reference, the outgoing XV70 Camry was last priced at RM219,800 for the 2.5V variant, which featured a 2.5-litre Dynamic Force (A25A-FKS) engine that replaced the older 2AR-FE unit in its 2022 update.

Pokdepinion: While I do like the Camry, I’m not really a fan of sedans anymore, especially the ones of this size. If I were to drive a larger car, I’d prefer SUVs as the taller viewpoint helps a ton with driving. Would still give it a try, though.
