Samsung is dropping the hottest tech drip in the scene – but good luck getting one because only six pairs will be made. The Shortcut Sneaker is the Korean smartphone giant’s latest (and perhaps wackiest) random creations, developed in collaboration with Cheil Benelux, Elitac Wearables, Brut Amsterdam, and sneaker designer Roel van Hoff.

Drip + Tech = Shortcut Sneaker

In a short video published by Samsung Netherlands, van Hoff says (via machine translation) that as soon as your feet move, you can operate your phone. A brief “Join The Flip Side” tagline is seen on the insole, the tagline of which is for the Z Flip/Fold series smartphones. According to Samsung Netherlands’ press release (via SamMobile), there are a few moves you can do to perform certain actions: for example, execute a “flawless moonwalk” while wearing the shoes to call your mom, or do a tap dance to play music.

As for how it works, the Shortcut Sneaker’s insoles pack motion sensors which can track their position and determine the shoe’s movement. Five movements can be saved to trigger five separate shortcuts, though nothing is said about the ways to set up this feature.

Given its rarity, Samsung is not releasing the Shortcut Sneaker to the wild – to get one, you must be a part of Samsung Members fanbase, of which only six pairs will be available. Those living in Netherlands have until July 9, 2024 to participate the giveaway, with winner announced in the following week.

Pokdepinion: Very creative. Maybe Samsung should do collaborations in the future?
