There were some rumors of Lenovo building a smaller version of its Legion Go console, and this leak might just confirms it – Videocardz dug through the firmware code and found some crucial information on this unreleased handheld.
Legion Go S Specs Leaked
The model name itself has been known for some time due to the laptop maker registering the device for regulatory certification process; the SKU code revealed by that point has given us some clues on what architecture may be powering them (Lenovo’s SKU number can be decoded if you know where to look). Videocardz’s discovery reveals that the Legion Go S, carrying the SKU number 8ARP1, will be powered by Rembrandt architecture – the codename of which belongs to Zen3+.
This means the Legion Go S will use an older chip design than the entire Ryzen Z1 series (which is powered by Zen4), and based on what is known, will still feature 8 cores. This means its compute power will still be greater than the vanilla Ryzen Z1, though it’ll likely be slower than the Z1 Extreme in both CPU and GPU departments.
Rumors suggest that AMD will release three chips under the Ryzen Z2 series at CES 2025, which includes the Ryzen Z2G (the one set to power this Lenovo handheld), Ryzen Z2, and Ryzen Z2 Extreme. All three will feature different architectures, with the latter two powered by Hawk Point (Ryzen 8040 series, meaning a likely Ryzen Z1 Extreme refresh) and Strix Point (Ryzen AI 300 series) respectively.
